The Teachers Edition for Grade 3, a 3-ring binder divided into 3 sections--teaching the series, lessons 1-36, and blackline masters. Research is the foundation for the methods used to teach spelling in this series. Three strategies used for spelling instruction reflect that research: sound-letter relationships, visual memory, and meanings. Word lists are purposely NOT presented as word families but instead are designed to teach most-frequently-used words as well as spelling rules. Writing/composition activities are the major part of each spelling lesson at all levels, and a number of these incorporate Bible topics. The main emphases for grade three are: 1) solidify sound-letter relationships including basic alternate spellings; 2) employ more visual strategies in learning to spell; 3) expand word difficulty appropriately; and 4) use spelling words in context. Spelling word lists expand to 20 words.
